Maria Bogner had popularised trousers as a clothing option for ladies in the Fifties, and Sônia also brought her very own style to the marriage. Before she met Willy, she had lived as a model in Rome, and there, she had preferred to wear loose men’s trousers from a boutique on the Piazza di Spagna. “Blazer, silk blouse and jeans: that’s the combination I made socially acceptable,” she said later when remembering these times.
